Records checklist

UK Mileage Records Checklist

Keep the journey details and support files that make AMAP and relief workflows easier to justify later.

Minimum records to keep

For HMRC-facing mileage evidence, the important pieces are journey date, destination, reason for travel, miles, and the vehicle basis used for the claim.

- Record each trip while details are still easy to verify.

- Separate business mileage from commuting or private travel.

- Keep reimbursement statements alongside the underlying mileage log.

Why records still matter with AMAP

Even when the mileage rate itself is simple, the claim still depends on showing that the journeys were eligible and that the miles are supportable. Good records reduce friction if your employer or adviser asks for backup later.
